Dr. Kerry Bryant

Dr. Kerry Bryant was born in Camden, Maine in 1953, and grew up in Searsmont, Maine. He graduated from Belfast High School in 1970. Bryant later attended the University of Connecticut Undergraduate School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 1974. From 1974-1978, he attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine, D.M.D. In 2000, he passed a national qualifying and met other requirements in continuing education earning him the prestigious Fellowship Award for the Academy of General Dentistry, F.A.G.D. Fewer than 10 percent of general dentists receive this award. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. When he is away from the office Dr. Bryant enjoys almost any kind of outdoor activity; including hiking, scuba diving, water skiing, downhill and cross-country skiing. Dr. Bryant also volunteers at the Root Cellar, an inner-city clinic in Portland, Maine.

Dr. Jordan Hicks

Dr. Jordan Hicks is a graduate of nearby Scarborough High School. He left his home in Maine to join another, with his grandparents in upstate New York, where he obtained a degree in Biology from Binghamton University. He performed odd jobs including mowing his aunt and uncles’ lawn and babysitting his two younger cousins, so he is very much a family man at heart. More recently, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, and has since that time called Brunswick home.

After serving the Portland and Windham communities for two years, Dr. Hicks is excited to have found his dental home at Kennebec River Dentistry and hopes he can continue to earn his place in what he has found to be a very loyal community. Dr. Hicks also believes in painless dentistry. While performing such common dental procedures as fillings, crowns, and extractions, it is his belief and mission that dentistry should hardly, if ever, be felt.

In his time since dental school, Dr. Hicks took various continuing education courses in areas such as dental implant placement, occlusion, and Invisalign. He takes great pleasure in being able to educate patients on all things dentistry, even if he is unable to provide you with the care you need himself. In his spare time, Dr. Hicks enjoys such leisurely activities as reading, traveling, and trying anything that is new and delicious, and may coincidentally be described as food. Basketball is his first love, but you might also find Dr. Hicks playing tennis in the summer and skiing in the winter. Interesting fact about Dr. Hicks: he has jumped out of a plane before—and lived—to be your dentist.

Shawna Maganti

Shawna Maganti and her family reside in the Augusta area. She graduated from Hall-Dale High School and entered the field of dentistry shortly after. Within a few years she joined Dr. Bryant’s practice and became a Certified Dental Assistant. Shawna remained one of Dr. Bryant’s assistants for 15 years until the birth of her son which then led her to stay home to raise him for the next six years.

After this time she decided to get back into dentistry. Shawna then worked as an endodontic assistant for over a year until the practice closed due to retirement.  Soon after, the opportunity to get back into her passion of general dentistry presented itself and it was then that she joined Dr. Bryant in practice once again. She has over 18 years of dental experience and focuses on expanded duty functions such as working behind the scenes in the dental laboratory or assisting her patients chairside, getting to know them and making sure they feel comfortable. You may even see her sitting at the front desk from time to time.

When Shawna is away from the office she is busy keeping up with her son’s activities and spending time with her family. Some of her interests include exploring the great outdoors, sightseeing, boating and gardening.

Bee Day

They say that when one door closes, another door opens. This was the case with Bee Day: After working several years as a CNA, Bee had the opportunity to enter the Dental Assisting Program at KVCC, graduating top of her class. This opportunity opened the door to a whole new world for her – one that she has felt blessed to be a part of. In the over 30 years that Bee has been a dental assistant, she has worked with and learned from a number of dentists: Peter Laliberte DMD, Paul Dunbar DDS, Anna O’keefe DMD, and then Andy Friedman, DMD of Madison, with whom she assisted chairside for nearly 20 years until his recent retirement. She states she owes the greatest gratitude to Dr. Friedman: “It was an awesome trip—thank you, Andy.”

In the Spring of 2021, amongst the COVID saga, Bee was offered another opportunity. The opportunity to join the Bryant Dental Care family. “Being a member of a dental team gives one a feeling of commitment that is fulfilling; however, being a part of a dental family like I have found at Dr. Bryant’s dental practice is not only fulfilling, but heart-warming. I truly do feel blessed because I have had the opportunity to work with so many dentists over the years. I have enjoyed learning – learning from the dentists themselves and taking part in extensive continuing education in the dental field. Most of all, I have enjoyed meeting a multitude of people—patients, many of whom I would call friends. Some friends I have met through volunteer work—which took me to Honduras and to the National Guard complex in Augusta where I assisted with the troops. Being able to help patients gain full dental, and sometimes physical health, is very rewarding. The opportunity to continue to learn with Dr. Bryant, such as learning about the Temporomandibular Joints, has been fascinating.”

Bee has also had the opportunity of teaching dental assisting with Dr. Cathy Turbyne (Turbyne and Associates) and Helping Hands Trade School. She feels most blessed to have been married to her best friend, Mike, for more than 40 years. They share an amazing son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. Together they enjoy fishing, camping, walking on the beach collecting sea glass, wine, traveling and so much more.
